GETTING HERE
Self Drive
The Bruce Highway, the main coastal highway, dissects the region in a North/South direction.
Running parallel servicing the hinterland is the Burnett Highway. Bundaberg is accessed on the
Isis Highway from Childers in the south and Gin Gin in the north. Drive time from Brisbane to Bundaberg is just over four hours.
Air
Up to eight flights a day connect Brisbane with Bundaberg and flights
operate northwards to and from Cairns on a daily basis. The flight time from Brisbane is approximately one hour.
Rail
Fast electric train services operate daily into Bundaberg on the main Brisbane Cairns line. Service time from Brisbane
is just over five and a half hours.
Coach
Daily services operate into Bundaberg with McCafferty's and Greyhound Pioneer. The hinterland is serviced on a weekly basis.
BANKING
Major banks are open from 9.30am to
4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.30am to
5.00pm on Fridays. Some banks and building
societies are open for slightly longer hours
and on Saturday morning.
In Bundaberg most banks have electronic
banking facilities open 24 hours a day.
Outside Bundaberg banking facilities can be
limited and we recommend you check with
your bank before leaving.
Most businesses accept major credit cards.
Foreign currency and travellers cheques can
be exchanged at banks and some hotels/motels.
POST OFFICES
The main Post Office is open from 8.30am to
5.00pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to
11.45am on Saturday.
SHOPPING
Shops generally open from 8.30am to 5.00 pm
Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings.
Large shopping centre supermarkets and chain
stores open till 9.00pm weekdays and 4.30pm
on Saturday. Bundaberg has late night
shopping on Thursday nights till 9.00pm.
Convenience stores open seven days a week
supplying basic needs. Markets operate on
weekends in Bundaberg.
