The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum houses, maintains and presents the city's permanent collection of Australian art, and local history. Exhibitions in all display spaces are changed every four to six weeks and are accompanied by a programme of educational and social activities.
The attractive eclectic styled building on the corner of Goondoon and Bramston Streets was built as an employment project in 1934. Now heritage listed, the free classical styled building was designed by Rockhampton architect, Ray Chipps to serve as the Gladstone Town Hall and community centre. For over forty years events such as debutante balls, flower shows, boxing matches, concerts. plays, eisteddfods, films, and weddings were held in the hall.
Over
the years, the Entertainment Centre and other such venues have been
built and in 1985, the refurbished Town Hall was opened as the Gladstone
Regional Art Gallery & Museum.
