Every year the Gold Coast region hosts exciting surfing and surf lifesaving contests. The Indy drivers will be burning up the streets of Surfers Paradise in the IndyCar Australia Gold Coast racing spectacular.
The
streets of Main Beach and Surfers Paradise will be jam-packed with
some 12,000 runners contesting the events of the Gold Coast Marathon
week. Other sports classics held through the year include the Surfers
Paradise International Aquathon and the Players Championships.
These
and other major sporting events will draw hundreds of thousands of
spectators to the Gold Coast and be watched by hundreds of millions
of television viewers around the world.
What makes each event special is its Gold Coast setting, unrivalled for sheer visual impact, and the wide range of support attractions, accommodation and entertainment.
Every month brings a colourful and exciting line-up of artistic displays, performances, festivals, sporting spectaculars and cultural events on the Gold Coast.
This
year will begin with a carnival of colour on and off the track at
the Gold Coast Turf Club. The Magic Millions
Summer Carnival will attract bloodstock,
racing fans and high rollers from Australia and the Asia-Pacific region for
10 days of serious racing and glamorous entertainment.
Events
celebrating the harvest of rich produce include the Beenleigh Cane
Festival, the Avocado and Rhubarb Festival at Tamborine Mountain and
the Tweed Banana Festival and Harvest Week at Murwillumbah.
There
are country shows and rodeos, an international film festival, classic
car and yacht displays and boating festivals.
